Parents of Teens

Parents of teen homeschoolers sometimes have different concerns than those of younger homeschoolers. Having raised three (now all in their 20’s) I’d like to help you figure out what’s important from what’s simply not. We are all really conditioned to believe that we have a variety of hoops that successful people MUST jump through – and many of those ideas are just plain not true.

I have quite a few resources that to help parents of teenagers.
Check out all your options:

Private 1:1 – 1 hour – 1 Coaching session
Sometimes parents need just one hour to work through a couple of questions.

Private 1:1 – 10 (1-hour) Coaching Sessions
Some parents prefer to have someone “on stand-by” when inevitable issues pop up. Many who choose this route schedule weekly sessions for the first few, and then twice/month or monthly thereafter. It’s totally flexible to your needs.

Private 1:1 – 4 (30-minute) Mentoring Sessions
Sometimes you need to have a quick chat with a mentor. You may have a question but you really don’t need a full hour – half will do! Especially if we can do it last minute (ish) and often. Send me a message if you think this might work for you!

Sue’s Notes

Each week, I offer a free newsletter/update. Well, I try to do this weekly – sometimes it’s every other week. Life, ya know? But, I include information specific for parents of teens (or parents that worry about the teen years!)

  • Blogposts and articles to help you figure out how to homeschool/unschool
  • Mainstream articles that are about learning
  • Any articles about the way school has an effect on teenagers
  • Links to helpful resources
  • Inspiring graphics

What you won’t get in this newsletter, is fear-driven parenting or any scaffolding of the status quo. Our teenagers deserve better than that!

Homeschooled Teens

BookCover

I published a book in October 2015, sharing the responses of 75 young people who talked about their homeschooled teen lives. If you ever worried about these years, I asked 20+ questions about

  • How they learned
  • How they made friends
  • What they spent their time doing
  • What their family life was like
  • What their social life was like
  • Will they homeschool their own kids?
  • What are they doing now?

CHAPTER 4:
All the Advantages they believe they experienced
because they were homeschooled.
